What was my favorite part while writing this novel? Allowing one of the characters to slowly come into her vampiric powers and abilities through the course of the story. Not only do you get to watch the transformation happen, but you get to see what the other immortals do to this character to 'bring out' her new senses and abilities. I was very happy with this book. Metamorphosis has great and unexpected twists that will leave fans of this series probably angry at that moment but don't put that book down! Keep reading and you will be glad you did. I certainly was and I am already anxious to read the next book in this awesome series!

Metamorphosis was quick paced, dramatic, and witty. A great continuation of the series. Metamorphosis follows the POVs of Abby, Emily, and Noel. It starts with Emily's full transformation process and continues on with her acceptance of the life she now lives. As Abby and Noel get Emily adjusted to her new life, they must train her to become strong and accustomed to her new powers. Emily learns to heighten all her senses and must learn to let go of her past life; nothing is the same now and with her new abilities she needs to rely on her vampire senses and not her human ones to survive. Abby on the other hand, is still recovering from her battle even though all her injuries are healed on the surface and all her powers have returned her immortal heart has not stopped beating; which gets both Abby and Noel worried that something might be terribly wrong with her. The heart does not beat unless the pure vampire is injured and it needs to heal the body but with nothing obvious plaguing Abby she can't figure out why it wont stop. Abby also begins to experience some strange symptoms; in the case of an immortal, headaches, stomachaches and a craving for junk food. I had a feeling of what could possibly be wrong with her and once I found out what it was it's a definite twist in the right direction. It throws everything for a loop and put even more pressure on Abby to stay healthy and stay alive. Now i'm not a fan of giving away parts of the book; I hate spoilers I think they ruin books for people but there is a part in this book that I wish I could totally say OMG this happened and I thought I was going insane I couldn't believe it. BUT I won't. Midway through the book there is a HUGE twist in the story involving Noel, and for those who have read Ordained, you probably fell in love with his character. Metamorphosis almost had me hating him! The beginning was great but like I said once you get to the middle of the book, your feelings will change just as mine had but through the whole reading process I kept thinking to myself 'No, this can't be happening, this isn't real.' And that's all i'll say on that, it's a great twist and everyone will love it. There's no true villain in this book but there are plenty of characters in it to keep the heroes busy. One character that comes into play will definitely be in the next book, and he's a real piece of work, as well as two new additions that surprise you at the end. Metamorphosis was a great read, I love the characters and the attitude they have, they're strong but funny and they keep the book interesting. There's plenty happening in this book that you will NOT be bored in the slightest bit. Metamorphosis will be released on November 15, 2011 So be sure to get your copies today. AND if you haven't read ORDAINED, definitely check that out first, The Immortaal Archives is a great series and I recommend it to everyone! Melissa Silva The Bookshelf

Rate: 4.5 Since Metamorphosis is book 2, I want to warn that there will likely be spoilers for Ordained in my review. When we last saw Emily, she had a decision to make. She had been accidentally exposed to Abby's blood which infected her with the vampire virus; however, because it was only a very small amount, it won't turn her into a vampire, it will kill her. So her choice is to either allow Abby to turn her into a pure vampire or die. Not really much of a choice, is it? So her choice is to either allow Abby to turn her into a pure vampire or die. Not really much of a choice, is it? Metamorphosis starts off shortly after where Ordained ended. Emily is transitioning into a vampire and learning about herself all over again. With the help of Abby and Noel's training, she's slowly but surely familiarizing herself with her new abilities ... some of which even Abby and Noel didn't expect her to have. For pure vampires, injuries and illnesses cause their hearts to start beating again until they have healed. So for Emily, it took a little while after being turned for her heart to stop beating, but for Abby, having been seriously injured at the end of Ordained, her heart is still beating despite her physical injuries having healed, causing Noel concern. Now as much as I would like to say more regarding the storyline, I can't. Devon Ashley takes you on a crazy ride with this book. There are some surprises throughout this book and one mega serious betrayal that I never saw coming and which I honestly became emotional over. Truth be told, I wanted to yell at Devon and say, "How could you?". You also learn more about Abby's past, her family that is important. Having read Metamorphosis, I understand why the synopsis of the book is so vague. You can't go into too much detail without spoiling some of the surprises and shocking revelations. While I very much enjoyed this book, I felt as if the beginning was a tad slow. But seriously, once it gets going ... hang on. As I've said, there are a number of surprises plus there are things that are revealed that will surely be important in the next book, and I'm so looking forward to finding out what happens next! ** I received a ecopy of Metamorphosis from the author in exchange for a review.**

Review originally posted at Step Into Fiction I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters as much (even more) than I did throughout the first book. I could not have foreseen a betrayal so horrible and gosh, I went to bed really angry that night. I had to stop there because I didn't want to read more. I think the entire thing will take every reader by surprise. Actually, to be honest, there are a few surprises in this book that I did NOT see coming. I love that about a book. There are aspects of this book that make me eager yet afraid of what will be coming. Rain's prediction has me crying already because it just can't be true. There are characters that are involved that seem like they want out of this new "family" but you know they'll play a role somewhere down the line and you can't wait to find out what. I hate to use this word but this book seemed like a bit of a filler book, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It just worked on setting up the future books and I think it was pretty brilliant. (I will add it was never boring either, so don't think just cause it's a 'filler' book it's automatically boring cause it's not) I highly recommend checking out Ordained (the first book) and if you enjoyed it as much as I did you should definitely get Metamorphosis. Love the characters like I do; love the relationships like I do...it totally is worth getting to know Emily, Abby, Noel and everyone else ;)

Even when Abby has a little trouble of her own; her heart has not stopped beating, and in her case, it's a bad thing. And she's having some symptoms, like craving for junk food. Guessed already what's going on with her? The writing reached a whole new level; in the first book everything felt kind of distant, but in this book I felt so connected with the characters, in spite of the third person POV. In the first book the story felt kind of limited because of this, but definitely not anymore! My favorite character in the first book was Emily, and through this book I just fell more in love with her. You just have to love her personality! I also managed to feel more connected with Abby, who I didn't really manage to connect with earlier. One of the main reasons why I liked this so much was because there's some hilarious dialogues going on. Noel, Abby and Emily form an amazing little group who have their own kind of humour, and you just have to love that. Even though you might end up not liking Noel so much in the ending. But I won't spoil that. This book definitely took this series to a completely new level, and left me craving for the third book, Catacombs, which should be out 2013! Huge thanks to author for providing a review copy! Love, Monaliz @ Mind Reading?

In the beginning of Metamorphosis, I was confused there was so many twists and turns but they all came out and made sense in the end, Thank God because I was sooo about to loose my mind with all the betrayal and lies that were going on. Metamorphosis is the second in The Immortal Archives series, In the first book we read more about Abby, this time we are reading about abby, Noel, Emily and so many more. ( I would tell you who else but then I would be doing some major spoiling.) Emily is training as she is turning into one of the Pure Vampires. Abby and Noel are there to help her along the way, that is until Abby finds out that she is pregnant, which is a miracle because Vamps can't get pregnant. When she is held hostage by the one person she holds in her heart most, she feels such betrayal especially when she thinks she's being set up to be handed over to her father, who she watched murder her mother over 200 years ago. Now Emily is on her own to learn her new skills and she is having some unexpected experiences that are really starting to worry her. Then some of her friends come into town. However, now Emily is faced with having to rescue Abby. When her friends are put into harms way because of Emily's new life style she takes it hard, so hard she just about hits rock bottom. I would say more but if I do I fear I will give away too many spoilers and that's just not my style!! This is an awesome series, I can't wait to read the next book, Catacombs. I am hoping for more blush worthy moments, and hoping that something is going on with Emily and .......

Metamorphosis by Devon Ashley is an intriguing and unpredictable novel with twists and turns! I really enjoyed Metamorphosis more than its first book, Ordained, because it is more compelling and appealing. She deals with who she is and what she has become thanks to Abby. I never thought it would turn out this way, but it is interesting to see how Noel, Abby, and someone from Abby’s past react to what happened. I felt that it was an interesting part to add in and it totally changes my love for Noel and Abby. I was totally mad at some parts of this novel! Emily, who is trying to discover herself wants more action, however, Abby would not let until things are stable. It was until Noel and Abby are in trouble where she and her friends tries and goes save Noel and Abby only to find out what Noel and Abby did. Metamorphosis by Devon Ashley is a great addition to The Immortal Archives! I am expecting more and intriguing story for Noel, Abby, and other characters from this series. I cannot wait for more!

I enjoyed Ordained, the first book in The Immortal Archives series, so I was looking forward to reading more about Abby after her transformation. I wanted to see more of her famous fight scenes and I also wanted to see how things would play out between her and the other characters. As I hoped, Abby is still the sarcastic and strong-willed girl that I remember. She is tough and has gotten much better at using her powers. My gosh the plot twists and surprises! I like surprises as much as the next girl, but this felt like too much. No matter what I thought was going to happen, I was always wrong. Every single time. Like Abby, I had a hard time knowing who to trust. Again, I love this sort of sneaky plot twists, but I like them in moderation. Sometimes, I just like to be right. If you like a strong heroine and a very twisty plot, then you will get into this book and series.

I loved this book!! This was so much better than the first but it doesn't feel right to say that because the first one great too. I loved all the twists, it was like a roller coaster of action! Many are the relationship melodramas. Absent is most logic and any foreshadowing. Worse, there is little plot to this novel. It relies on a single “twist” that contains absolutely no foreshadowing and is so unbelievable that I nearly threw my Kindle out the bus window. To make things worse: (view spoiler)[it is eventually revealed that said “twist” (Noah betraying Abby to her villainous father and never loving her) is a ruse that Noah and Abby are playing on Abby’s father, which means the only plot event of the novel is fake and useless melodrama trying to play on readers’ hearts. The lack of any foreshadowing of Noah’s sudden 180 degree turn made it seem fake and the fact that it was fake doesn’t make it any less irritating or excuse lazy writing. (hide spoiler)] Such a disappointment, after such an incredible first book in the series. I can’t see myself continuing with this series.

Tasty but hell of a mess to look at :) I do like the ideas of this series, but they are not properly developed yet. I hope the book #3 will change that.

I really enjoyed Devon's first book and I must say that this book had me guessing until half way through. The book overall was fantastic. I did struggle with how events that could have used more detail were glossed over. Also, it seemed like things were not completely explained. It was almost as if there was a rush to the end. This novel is the second installment in the Immortal Archives and I'm still confused as to why there is two heroines. Abby should of been the main one or Emily should have, not both. Also despite the fact that it's a good read, huge chunks are missing out and when we find out certain parts, we are like what the hell just happened? I can't say that I approve how it's written necessarily but it keeps us entertained.
