Jaxon Holland is more than a top-scoring center for the Las Vegas Wolves—he’s also the biggest “player” on the team. Women love him, flock to him, lust for his sculpted body. Yeah, life is good for this hockey player. Or it was until lately. After blowing a key play in what may have been the biggest game of the season, the fans sour on Jaxon. Good thing memories are short, Jaxon Holland is more than a top-scoring center for the Las Vegas Wolves—he’s also the biggest “player” on the team. Women love him, flock to him, lust for his sculpted body. Yeah, life is good for this hockey player. Or it was until lately. After blowing a key play in what may have been the biggest game of the season, the fans sour on Jaxon. Good thing memories are short, right? Uh, they’re not when a widely popular sports blogger, known simply as Mr. Hockeypants, calls Jaxon out and places all the blame for the loss on him. Life goes from bad to worse, and Jaxon wants to get away. Good thing one of his teammates has a beautiful, secluded beach house he can escape to. Sand, sun, surf, and lots of alone time sound good to this disgruntled centerman. Only problem is the beach house is already occupied—by beautiful and spunky Cara Milne. Cara and Jaxon are off to a rocky start after an extremely awkward first meeting. Yeah, these two pretty much hate each other. But Jaxon, forever a “player” at heart, vows to win his housemate over. YES, YES, YES. --- This story revolves around a really great haters-to-lovers-romance. The banter between these two characters is so funny and the sparks flying between Jaxon and Cara is off the charts HOT! They have such amazing chemistry! This book contains everything you could've wished for in an S.R. Grey story and more. Jaxon is one hell of a swoon-worthy hockey 'god'. I loved his cocky character, whilst at the same time he's a true romantic at heart *swoooon* Cara is a perfect counterpart to Jaxon and whilst she was sweet, I really liked her a lot for being feisty as well, whenever she got pissed at Jaxon again, lol. The only thing I didn't really like, was that she was keeping her secret way too long, but it was to be expected though given the course of this story-line. Overall it's yet again a really, REALLY enjoyable read, that I've read in one sitting. I just couldn't stop reading and that seems to become a ritual when I read books by this author, lol. I don't think I'll ever get enough of the hockey players S.R. Grey writes. Each and every one of them so far has stolen my heart in so many different ways and Jaxon is definitely one of my favorites.. I think. Or is it Brent? Or Benny? Or Dylan? Or Nolan? I just can't choose.. And I crave MORE, as always when finishing a Grey book haha. I just can't get enough of her writing. If you're into sports romance [hockey in particular], sassy characters, a well developed romance, a lot of hotness and steamy scenes that nearly sets the pages on fire, a pinch of humor and great writing [as is to be expected of this author] -> you need to pick up this book asap! And if you haven't read the prior 4 book, you need to pick them up as well! This book can be read as a stand-alone, but of course, I'd recommend reading them in the right order, so you can fall in love with one hockey player at a time. *sigh* The only thing left for me to say at this point: ENJOY yourself!! But I'm positive that won't be a problem! Grey delivered yet again!

This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult audiences. Jaxon and Cara have an interesting start. Cara is feeling guilty about what she wrote about Jaxon in her blog under the penname of Mr. Hockeypants. The things she said were damaging. Jaxon has no clue, she is his nemesis. The two verbally spar a lot. They get to know each other well since they are alone together in the same house on an island. They become friends. Obviously, things explode when Jaxon discovers the truth. It took me a while to warm up to the characters. As they both evolved and grew, I enjoyed them more and more. I think that was also because they both seemed to be hiding parts of their true personality. As they opened-up, I liked them more. They both are good people that are human and made mistakes. I like that they show character and take responsibility for their actions. PLAYER ON ICE was skillfully written. I thought the plot was original and well laid out. I like the lizard scene. Lizards are cute. I appreciated how the issues were resolved. The story had a great ending. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Once you start it's can assure you won't be able to stop. Player on Ice is her latest release and it's the fifth book from the Boys of Winter series. Dayum... What a series... What a cover... This book explores the lifes of Jaxon and Cara. Jaxon had it all, an amazing career on Ice, fame, ladies and money but one bad play and he's hated by all fans. All that made him want to get away to a secluded place, more specifically a beach. But once he's in there he's not the only one... Cara is a feisty girl determined to succeed. She doesn't back out from a challenge. She's a blogger that can work from home so she takes her friend request to go on a well deserved vacations. But she wasn't expecting running into Jaxon. This could be a sweet encounter, wasn't for the fact that she was the blogger who trashed his name after that bad play... And now... Oh lord, I couldn't be happier with this book. These two are one of a kind. The plot is amazing, very well written, super engaging and powerful. The interaction between the characters started bumpy but it changed with every flip of a page. It was insane the way these two interact with each other. I laughed so hard but I also wanted to hurt someone... Jesus, these two are super stubborn. And the sexual tension between them... Oh boy... Can secrets become a problem? Can you forgive and forget and go from there? Fantastic book. S. R. I missed your books. I'm so glad for the chance to read this one and I can't wait for the next one. Will it take to long? Please say no. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Pretty quickly their relationship evolves and love is bloomed. Due to some hidden secrets and lies by omission they fall apart. After time and some soul searching, a happily ever after is in the making. I can't wait for the next installment!!

The fact that they give in to the chemistry is inevitable. Feelings come out, but secrets are kept hidden. Like the fact that Cara is Mr. Hockeypants. This was a pretty quick book for me. The bickering between Jaxon and Cara was entertaining to read as they fought their growing attraction to each other. The ending was very satisfying and this turned out to be a nice addition to the series. I particularly liked Cara though. A sports loving girl who isn't afraid to give as good as she gets. And that introduction scene between her and Jaxon is priceless. Noel's book is up next and after the little hints that were given, I look forward to seeing what he was up to over the summer.

This book is a stand alone but I do recommend you read the previous books in the series as they are a great read as I love the camaraderie between all the characters. When Jaxon has the blame solely placed on him by a blogger called Mr.Hockeypants, for one of the teams biggest losses, the only thing he can do is to escape the limelight and keep a low profile. When one of his team mates offers him the use of a secluded beach house, he jumps at the chance, only problem is that it is occupied by Cara. Neither Jaxon or Cara expect to find anyone else there and it creates tension immediately. Jaxon is determined to win over Cara; what he doesn't know is that she is in fact the blogger Mr.Hockeypants. What will happen when Jaxon finds out Cara’s identity? After all she almost destroyed his career. Will he be able to forgive her? Or will he reject her and the feelings that have blossomed between them? Every time I finish one of these books I say I have a new favourite and yes I am saying this again. I love S R Grey's style of writing, her characters are strong and have depth and I am excitedly anticipating the next book in the series.

They have feelings too. We as fans need to Remeber that at times.

Jaxon is exactly what I like to read about when it comes to the H in romance novels. He is cocky (oops can I say that?) has a fantastic personality, great at hockey and is an all round wonderful man. He certainly meets his match in Cara. I absolutely loved her!! Feisty isn't strong enough to describe her. The sparks fly whenever Jaxon and Cara are in the same vicinity. All that hate and prickliness can only end in one way - and boy does it!!! Jaxon is quite a romantic man, and the way this book ends will make you swoon. One of his teammates has a secluded beach house, and that sounds great, especially with no fans there. There's just one problem, it's already occupied by a stunning women named Cara, who he's not allowed to mess with. They do nothing but fight, because the attraction is too much to handle, so when the chemistry FINALLY explodes, they give in. Surprisingly, Jaxon falls hard & fast, but little does he know, that he's fallen for Mr. Hockeypants herself. Lord have mercy the flames Cara & Jaxon put off came shooting out of my kindle to set my sheets on fire. And all of the fighting in their ongoing war?! Well, they exhausted me. These two were the epitome of foreplay with wordplay for real! And I was on the edge of my seat waiting for that huge shoe to drop with Cara's secret. So my f-bomb dropping was insane with all the angst going on, on top of that secret waiting to be revealed. What an amazing story that had it all! CANNOT WAIT FOR MORE in this series or anything from this fantastic author to be honest! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

How they make the characters and situations so real and relatable that you fly through the book because you just can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. They captivate you with humor and heart. This series is amazing, and this latest addition is so far my favorite. I think I say that with everyone of them, LOL. S.R Grey is an amazing writer and person, she is just the sweetest. Playing and practicing to get to where we find him, vying for the Stanley Cup. It's no secret that he misses his opportunity, the secret is how he chooses to reflect on that loss. Cara's friend is in a funk and invites her to wallow in misery on a beautiful island. Cara is a blogger with a nice financial cushion, so she figures, why not? What can go wrong with a beautiful beach house and her best friend? Um, everything. So as the blurb says, Cara and Jaxon end up in the beach house together and of course, we can guess how that first and most of the interaction between them goes. Again, they are young and come off that way. Bickering like my kids, which felt annoying more than angsty or sexy. They both also had an inner and sometimes outer, but to themselves, dialogue that I found distracting. The big reveal is what finally made me perk up while reading. Yes it's predictable, but I was still excited to see how Jaxon was going to handle it. The book is well written, however not my cup of tea when it comes to sports romances. Maybe because I'm getting older and don't appreciate this type of back and forth foreplay...like I said, I'm not sure what it was that rubbed me the wrong way with this couple, but something sure did. Cara Milne is a 22-year old woman with no job living off an inheritance in Las Vegas. She's a huge hockey fan, and her best friend Noelle's brother Noel plays for the Vegas hockey team, along with Jaxon Holland - the scapegoat in the team's loss and elimination from the Stanley Cup playoffs. Jaxon is hated because of a blog called Mr. Hockeypants - I'll give you one guess who the author of that blog is - yep, you guessed it. After the playoffs end, and with so much grief from the Vegas fans, Jaxon needs to disappear. Lucky for him, Noel has a place in Florida on a secluded island, where nobody will bother him. Cara and Noelle decide they need to get away, and plan to go to Noel's place in Florida (without telling Noel - rude). Cara ends up going down before Noelle and is surprised to find Jaxon jerking off on the patio of the house. Weird. Anyway, Jaxon and Cara get off to a very rocky start. They don't get along and fight all the time, until they don't. They develop feelings for one another (of course) and Cara is terrified that Jaxon will find out that she's Mr. Hockeypants (which is a stupid blog name, in my opinion). You can pretty much predict how this book will end. A couple of things about this book I didn't like: 1.The cover. That guy's head is totally on the wrong body. It looks super weird and very different from the other covers in the series. 2.Cara's blog. It was very mean-spirited. No one person is responsible for a loss in hockey - it's a team sport. The fact that her blog focused solely on Jaxon and made him a scapegoat is pretty reprehensible. I'm a Chicago hockey fan, and my team didn't make it to the playoffs this year. I was disappointed, sure, but it was a collective team failure that caused them to miss. I still love my team and will be watching all their games next year. The fact that one little blog had such an impact on Jaxon's life didn't feel real to me. I don't know of any real life blogs that have that kind of influence. I liked the chemistry between Jaxon and Cara, but their relationship was pretty strange. They seemed angry at each other a lot. Cara's mysterious inheritance was never discussed (how she got it), nor was her family. Jaxon's family was never discussed either. It was kind of strange. The writing was good, the story moved at a good pace, and I appreciated the fact that it was told in first person, alternating POV. But the story itself was lacking for me, which is why I only gave 3 stars. I've read Ms. Grey before and I like her work, and I will continue to read her in the future. This was the perfect book to read right after the Washington Capitals won the Stanley Cup. I love sports romance novels - especially hockey and I was still relishing the fact that Washington won the cup and my boy Holtby will be bringing the CUP back to his hometown. So anyways .... I guess I should stop rambling about my love of Washington and talk to you about this great new book ... However, another fun fact was that the team that Jaxon Holland played on is the Las Vegas Wolves .... who lost due to a few bad plays on his part which made him enemy number one in the City that never sleeps. I loved how the readers got to flip back and forth between his POV and Cara's. Cara's character was interesting, she had been hiding behind a blog that she had been very successful with, writing about all the latest hockey news .... hiding behind the name of Mr. Hockeypants. Well, Mr. Hockeypants ripped Jaxon a new strip when he made his bad plays - and then was being taunted from every angle .... enough to make him want to escape. Now if you are looking for something funny as well as romantic, then this is the book for you. I loved how Cara and Jaxon meet and it had me in a fit of laughter. S.R. Grey does not disappoint in creating this hilarious tale of steamy, hot romance and adds some spice. Grey is a great writer that knows to create a plot line that flows and characters who have definite chemistry. I loved the way that Cara and Jaxon interacted with one another and found some of the situations that things that Grey said to one another absolutely hilarious. If you are either saddened by the loss of the Vegas Knights or still relishing in the fact that the Capitals final won the CUP - then this may be the book for you, if you like sports romance, steamy love scenes and a comical story line. S.R. Knight is a fabulous writer, who has absolutely gained a fan in this girl! I absolutely recommend that you pick up a copy of Player on Ice and add to your To-Be-Read Shelf.

Player On Ice is the fifth instalment of the Boys of Winter series. Each book can be read as a stand alone read. I am really enjoying reading this series. Jaxon messes up big time in his game, costing the team one of their biggest losses. Fans jump to solely place the blame on him. To make matters worse a blogger called Mr.Hockeypants throws in their two pennies worth, making some rather scathing comments. He needs to get out of his head, escape the limelight and keep a low profile. When his team mate Noel offers him the use of a secluded beach house, he jumps at the chance. Jaxon get's more than he bargained for when he arrive's at the beach house!! Which comes in the form of Cara, a sassy, beautiful woman. Cara was suppose to be spending some down time with her best friend. They planned to stay at Noelle's brothers beach house, enjoying the sun, sea and plenty of drinking. But at the last minute Noelle's been called into work. Leaving Cara at the beach house by herself. Or so she thought!! Until she walks in and finds the very sexy but also very naked, Ice Hockey player Jaxon Holland!! When they realise that they both will be staying at the house for the next few weeks. They try to make the best out of an awkward situation. Cara act's like she doesn't really know much about him or hockey. But Cara is keeping a very huge secret!! which could destroy this friendship that is slowly building into more. Player On Ice is full of witty banter, great sexual tension and characters made to fall in love with. This is a sports romance and also a romantic comedy. I also have another confession, I know nothing about hockey, which is what this book is about, but I still very much enjoyed the story. Jaxon and Cara from the very first moment they meet are enemies and really tick each other off. You can just feel the simmering tension between them and when that tension broke free it was amazing to watch them! These two characters are so funny! I love their banter and the sparks flying between them are off the charts! Jaxon and Cara are now stuck together in the beach house, because none of them wants to give in to the other and leave. Cara knows why she can’t be with them. If he finds out she is Mr. Hockepants, he will hate her. Jaxon, on the other hand, is trying to win her over. What will happen when the truth comes out? You will have to read Player on Ice to find out! If you like sports romances, hockey, sassy heroines, and arrogant/confident heros with hearts of gold, then you have to pick up Player on Ice is the fifth standalone installment in S.R. This is a lovey dovey story that will make you swoon and make you HOT. Hope you read it soon!

4 star I was pulled right into this story. The story has pain, secrets, and heartbreak. Jaxon is a player on and off the ice. He is popular, and woman always fawn over him. When he blows a play in the game the fans are not happy. But fans get over loses and move on, right? Normally that would be the case, but a popular sports blogger calls him out and blames the entire loss of the game on him all he wants is to get away. When he is offered a beach house that is secluded he jumps at the chance to get away and get some alone time. But the house is already occupied. The chemistry between these two is hot but Cara has a secret that could ruin everything. But with secrets they have a chance of coming out. When hers comes out it could ruin everything that they are slowly building. Will he ever be able to forgive her for calling him out and making his life crazy? I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read. I recommend this book.

I have to say that I was extremely excited about this book. Jaxon Holland is a hockey player and after getting side tracked at a game which causes the team to lose and getting a scathing blog post written about him, he decides to escape for a while. Cara and her best friend want to escape the everyday by going to Noelle’s brothers beach house for the summer. Needless to say when Cara has to go on her own, she’s a bit disappointed. What Cara and Jaxon don’t count on, is there being another person I have to say that I was extremely excited about this book. Good god the whole book had witty banter, extreme sexual tension that you could cut with a knife and characters that just made the story so enjoyable you didn’t want it to end. Cara is hiding a huge secret and when Jaxon finds out the truth, albeit not in a good way, he gets very angry. What they both don’t count on is feelings getting in the way. Do they get past this betrayal? Is there a happy ever after for them?? Well I’m keeping my mouth shut. I highly recommend you reading for yourself. I loved the fact that Dylan gave Jaxon some amazing advice, I really loved his book and this one is a superb addition to the Bad Boys of Winter series.
