update 19.07.18 Earlier this week a sad reveal was made public in the final volume release of Tokyo Ghoul: re. http://kenkamishiro.tumblr.com/post/1... Ishida Sui confirms that the reason why the ending of the manga was so rushed is due to him falling out of love with his series. Everything makes sense now. I still love and respect him as an author regardless, hope he takes a much needed break and comes back with a new amazing project when he’s ready. update 3.07.18. just read the final chapter. update 19.07.18 Earlier this week a sad reveal was made public in the final volume release of Tokyo Ghoul: re. http://kenkamishiro.tumblr.com/post/1... SO RUSHED??? for no reason???? why, Ishida, WHY? overall, aside from the kaneki/furuta greatness there was little else I really liked and cared about in this volume. I mean, it’s good that no one died....right? 🙂 idk, man. this was just too inadequate by ishida’s standards. potential wasted. I’m sad. so, this really is the final volume. 3 chapters left to go. 😪 I can’t believe that, after so many years of going strong, tokyo ghoul is coming to an end. I’ll always remember it as one of the very best series I’ve come across in my life. 💜 hopefully my boy kaneki survives in the end 😶 the last chapters were....wild to say the least. anyway, I’m really proud of him, he’s come such a long way since the beginning of tg. one of the most interesting complex characters to ever exist. iconic.

I don't like reviewing manga. I think you get through them too quickly for a 'proper' review to be meaningful. I'd rather share my thoughts when I'm finished reading a series, so that's what I'm going to do here. Tokyo Ghoul gets a lot of mixed reviews. Its at times very confusing and hard to follow, it's dark and twisted but I think it has a lot of heart as well. RE was a completely different kettle of fish to 'Tokyo Ghoul'. There are a lot of new characters to learn remember and a few returning favourites. The essential plot of ghoul vs human is still there, but the battleground has changed somewhat, as has the pawns. On the whole I really enjoyed the series but for me the huge cast made me nostalgic for the good old Anteiku days. I miss the intimacy of the smaller cast and wasn't a big fan of how the story kepy flipping around all over the place. Also I felt like we got cheated by the death of one of the characters. It shouldn't have ended that way for them!! Overall though I'm happy with where the story went in general, though it defiantly went a little nuts towards the end, seriously how many times can you 'kill' off a character? Something I will say is that I absolutely love the art style, and the cover art for this manga is stunning. I could look at it all day long. I hope the creator continues producing such entertaining content, though I think it would be nice if this world was laid to rest. Too much of a good thing kinda of ruins the effect. I'd recommend watching the anime as well, though be prepared for how may many changes they make from the manga. It's still an enjoyable watch in my opinion but its fair to say the source material is much better.

It's done. Five years of my life with this series gave me so much happiness, stress ,tears and anger . I will treasure this series all my life for all that it taught me. I sae this characters grow so much and their development was amazing, each one going trough relatable process during each arcs. Ishida sui is one of the best mangaka alive right now and i highly recommend you keep up to see the closure to this story.

the End. This was my least favorite volume, I'm not sure how I feel about the end of this fantastic manga. The end was so sudden, I had no clue that I'm going to read the last chapter !! Tokyo Ghoul is such a great installment, full of complex characters and complex world. Keneki-ken is such a great character in which I admire a lot !!!!! I'm so relieved that I have been introduced to TG, and now I can't wait for season 4 of the anime. I'm sad that it's over :(

And we're finally here, at the end of the line. I can't believe this is the last volume. The ending was not as great as I expected to be, but I guess this si what happens when you expect too much of something. I never lives up to your expectations. (view spoiler)[ Chapter 165 → ◙ Holy molly, what what WHAT Chapter 166 → ◙ Oh my, YES. I remember when Ui and Suzuya fought the owl together. When Suzuya was still a crazy baby and Ui a coward. Well, Suzuya's not a baby anymore, but Ui still claims to be a coward lol. I want to see them fight side by side again. ◙ But is that really the owl, though? ◙ And the ghouls fighting by the side of the investigators again. My little heart can't handle all these emotions... ◙ Tsukiyama, Nishio, Banjou, be safe. ◙ What the..? Was that the gas or what? Chapter 167 → ◙ And simply, just like that, everyone dies....?? ◙ Ew ew ew, I hope these things are not the 101 dalmations Furuta dreamed of having. Chapter 168 → ◙ Ayato calling Kaneki 'shitty brother' actually reminds me of how younger than him he is... ◙ Looks like everyone we know and care about is still alive. Good. ◙ Suzuya baby, you've grown sooooo much. ◙ Should have known the clowns were behind this. ◙ Ooooh, two long-awaited confrontations: Amon/Priest and Uta/Yomo. I'm excited..!!! Chapter 175 → ◙ "We are forever." I'm crying again. ◙ So, Naki and Eto are not dead? Happy tears... Chapter 176 → ◙ And with everything you've done, in the end, I still came to pity you, Furuta. R.I.P Chapter 177 → ◙ What should have happened in the very first chapter. Chapter 178 → ◙ These chapters are so damn short! ◙ ARGH Chapter 179 → ◙ Sooooo, the end, huh? ◙ R.I.P Shirazu. Haru's okay now... ◙ Kill me Ishida, why don't you (Suzuya, baby TT) ◙ The Naki panel is the one making me the happiest. I have the hardest time keeping the smile off my face. ◙ A happy ending. OH. MY. GOODNESS. It's done. Tokyo Ghoul's done. I'm done. What do I do? I dedicated two years to the Tokyo Ghoul fandom. First binge-watching the anime and then inhaling the mangas. I truly found it hard to say goodbye to this world and the characters but seeing how they all got their own happily ever afters warmed my heart! (I definitely cried. I couldn't help my self, Kaneki deserved it!) I'd like to thank Sui Ishida for dedicating 7 years of his life to Tokyo Ghoul! この七 年間 ありがとうございました! お疲れ様! R OH. MY. GOODNESS. It's done. I can't even put into words how much I love this series ❤❤❤ or how much I adore all those characters, how happy that end made me or how my heart is melting and breaking for my little weirdo, Uta ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I did not expect that. okay, first of all, this volume was extremely entertaining and I inhaled 300 pages in just a few hours secondly, what the hell happened? thirdly, I need to think about everything but I don’t have a good feeling about it. The ending feels like a Harry Potter ending which is garbage. 4 star rating is just for now.

Tokyo Ghoul is a beautiful work of art. It is easily the best series I have ever read. Action, love, horror, its all here, and im sad its over, but the ending makes it all worth it. I will certainly reread it many times.

A rushed and disappointing ending. I still love all the characters and seeing them all happy FINALLY was fantastic. I read that it was bad because the author wasn't enjoying writing Tokyo Ghoul anymore, which makes sense. Still a fantastic series. Kaneki will remain one of my favorite manga characters of all time.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. AHHHH its over!! And the ending was so sudden, too!! I think Ishida wrapped up things well, considering the abruptness of the whole final arc. But we got to see how everyone was doing and where they all went off to (CCG disbanded and the new TSC popped up). TOUKA & KANEKI'S DAUGHTER IS SOOOO CUTE!! AND I LOVE THAT HE AND HIDE ARE STILL BESTIES AFTER ALL THIS. Despite the abrupt ending, I'm not particularly dissatisfied about the 6 year time jump. Looking forward to what Ishida does next! :)

Absolutely outstanding. Amon's realization had me breathless, and the story of Uta, Hitori, and Renji had me feeling nostalgia. I adored this volume, despite the fact it featured Kaneki much less than it usually does. I feel like, this once, it was arranged in such a way, I felt nothing but love and admiration for the wonderful volume.

Update: Apparently, Sui Ishida decided to end the series because he fell out of love with the story. Everything makes sense now. Original review: The end is not how you end a masterpiece! I can't believe this is actually over and we have reached the end! This manga has grown on me and it breaks my heart to say goodbye. I didn't expect such an ending, I expected (hoped actually) it would be a tragic one where most of them die but this ending is heartwarming and soothing. There are no words to contain how I'm touched by this amazing piece of art. Thank you Sui Ishida for showing me that my heart and soul can welcome such new shades of colours and emotions 💕
